So I don't know what the hype was like for this in the UK - I can only imagine! But I've been waiting for this track to drop for QUITE awhile, and here it is, in all its glory. Now you don't have to be named Roska to get a VIP of the track, and now can spin it for your very self!
Redlight, who is the "dubstep" alter-ego of drum and bass legend Clipz, has created a bit of a bastard child with "Source 16", in that it has that funky rhythm, house bpm, and Jack Beats / LFO wobble (that's subtle and fun!) If you haven't heard it yet, then DO!
Wow. Isn't this crazy? I've been back on the internet for a whole week or so now, and I haven't lost interest. Weird, I know. I can't believe that summer's basically here and that I'm living in Albany full-time. Buh bye sunshine and beaches....on the plus side, there's still plenty of awesome music coming out, and thanks to the magic of the internet, I can still get at it no matter WHERE I am!
This week we've got some juke, we've got some house, we've got some step, and we've even got some - SHOCK - moombahton, but it's all bass-centric and that's all that matters. As Mr. Worldwide himself would say, Dale, disfruta.

This is some supergroup shit, and also some of the most club-ready moombahton, that combines all of the genre's best aspects. It's a fusion of hip-hop, latin, dutch, and - best of all - truly monumental bass. Drop this, watch the club shake.
I already blogged about a DrMr track earlier this week, but this one is hot off the presses, and it's quite the journey. I don't quite know how to pin it down genre-wise, but I give it my full backing. Which I'm sure means a lot to you since I've been regularly updating this website for all of about 9 days now....just trust me on this one.
I am in love with The Mane Thing, ever since I heard their track "Get Paid" on a world club compilation earlier this year (look it up). Their style is so cool, going from kinda filter, disco sounding party house bridges and builds into stark, futuristic drops that combine to form some of the best club music around. "Listen", which just dropped this year, is by no means an exception to this trend.

Wow what a week for Afrojack. Earlier this week, he and Quintino dropped "Selecta", but frankly, this song blows it OUT OF THE FUCKING WATER.
People have been waiting on this R3hab collaboration to drop for awhile, and it's certainly been worth the wait. The drop pays off in a huge way, and it's just in time for the summer festival season. Just when I thought the man was played out, he floors me again.

I don't know about you guys, but one of the most common crises into which I find myself thrust is the proposition of a long flight/car ride/lecture center class, without any new mixes to listen to. As a DJ, of course I love the individual tracks, and becoming familiar with their ins and outs and ebbs and flows is vital to performing a good set.
But there's nothing like a mix...So I've taken it upon myself to catalog here some of the better ones I've found of late, so that you never have to wonder how to pass the time ever again. How charitable, I know!!
I'll compile some more of these as I find them, until then enjoi.

First up is some truly essential listening for anybody who likes their beats slow and their bass really big, via remezcla musica. Its tracklist is a whirlwind that has something for everybody, and the mixing is superb. Now that the sun has been peaking its head out, I highly suggest blasting this, windows down, moonroof optional. You won't be sorry.
This one's a bit older, coming out very late last summer. But it's such a good variety of everything that could be labelled UK bass music. It's a short mix, clocking in at under a half-an-hour, perfect for your morning subway ride:
An hour's worth of grime, 2-step, drum-n-bass, and forward thinking house, I'm confident that Mele will bring something for everybody to the table with this one. You might not want to play this when other people are in the car (unless they happen to be fans of Wiley's voice), but if you have an open mind and an appreciation for the low-end I don't think you'll be disappointed. Big ups to fact magazine for a truly awesome series of podcasts/mixtapes.
Another solid entry in the annals of the xlr8r series, this one requires an appreciation of the latin side of things...but come on, who doesn't like some south-of-the-border from time 2 time?
Apparently I'm in the minority, but I wasn't particularly impressed by Afrojack's latest single "Doing It Right". I thought it was kind of a played out sound.
He returns again here with nothing extremely ground breaking, but this collaboration with Quintino is 1. a more manageable length and 2. has a drop that pays off (though completely in line with the stereotypical "dutch" sound). It's a fun track, but I don't know if he'll ever be able to top the magic of "Replica".
Alright, so I know that the album art looks like the shitty backgrounds on "Deep Sexy Electro" YouTube channels, moombahton inventor @davenada tweeted about this and put it on his tumblr today, so I figured it was worth a look.
Another reason why you should never judge a book by its cover. I've never heard of either Pickster nor Melo, but this whole EP is on fire, running the gamut from the soulful territory reminiscent of David Heartbreak to the most maximal moombahton this side of "Pero Que Lo Que Mujer". It's almost impossible for me to pick a favorite track, but in a pinch I'd say stick with the laid-back latin beauty of "Es Dificil" or the balls-out Caribbean burner "Waistline".
